On dirty electricity/EMFs/wifi.
One of the things we recently tackled was the EMF/dirty electricity situation in our house. There’s nothing wrong with our house, but there is something wrong with the way we wire our homes, the collective electricity grid, and the electronics that we bring into our home that have no threshold for the dirty electricity they generate.
To start, I must urge any of you that use wifi to research the safety of doing so. Look beyond industry funded studies or articles on the internet. We have never had wifi. Everything is tied in with an ethernet cable in our house. Same goes for cell usage. Airplane mode is your friend. I’m typing this now in airplane mode. I will turn on my phone, post this, and then shut my phone off.
We hired a certified biological home consultant to come into our house and check things out. A lot of people think problems come from outside of the house, but the bigger issue is the electrified boxes we live in. We have almost zero cell towers around us and a properly, newly wired home. Still, there were issues.
Where we slept was a problem. Now it’s not. We hired an electrician to wire a secondary breaker box with the offending wiring that now has a kill switch on it. Before we go to sleep at night, I just hit a button on a remote and our wired cage becomes an inert, peaceful sleeping chamber. We don’t own any “smart” appliances. We try to keep our house as dumb as possible. No messages going back and forth, scrambling our cells.
We had two problem appliances – our Apple TV was giving off atrociously high EMFs and our generator (which is hard wired into the house so that it kicks on automatically in a power outage). We were able to dramatically reverse those units with filters and with some silver cloth and wrap. Now there’s nothing coming off of them and they still work perfectly.
So, even in our old stone foundation home, our in the middle of nowhere, with the nearest cell tower being miles away, we had things to remedy. It’s well worth it. Our sleep quality has increased and so has my health.
If you want to read some well cited articles, here are some good places to start:
Anything EMF related by Dr. Mercola (he’ll have a book on this subject released later in the year), Dr. Martin Pall,s work, Dr. Magda Havas. Read the book “The Non-Tinfoil Guide to EMFs”. It’s a good one that gives tips on how anyone can reduce their exposure. And then there’s a zillion podcasts (maybe start with Ben Greenfield’s EMF podcasts) and maybe watch some documentaries on the subject. Even little steps make a difference.
